The Games Store is a home base for Lincoln’s thriving tabletop gaming community. Nestled in the heart of the Stonebow Centre off the High Street, we sell a variety of products and accessories for trading card games, role playing games, miniatures, and board games, as well as hosting structured tournaments, casual play, and kids clubs.
We also have tables available for free in-store play for you and your friends.
The founder of The Games Store, Karl Bown, had a lifelong passion for tabletop gaming, which began when he started attending the Sheffield Wargames Society as a teen. In 1982, he moved to London and began TGS as a side hustle, sending out mail-order catalogues to sell board wargames.
When Karl moved to Lincolnshire in 1989 he brought The Games Store with him, and took the business online in 1996, using the burgeoning internet retail space to satisfy a demand for board and card games, sending packages all over the world.
TGS’ first foray into the brick and mortar space came in 2004, when the Bowns purchased a small shop named Comic Culture, adding tabletop gaming stock to the store, hosting tournaments, and providing a hub for tabletop enthusiasts all around Lincolnshire. The shop moved into the current Stonebow Centre location in 2015, and following the growth of tabletop gaming and changing trends in the comic book market changed the name of the business back to The Games Store.
Today, TGS - still a family business after over 40 years - is a welcoming hot spot for Lincoln’s tabletop gaming scene, hosting product launches, structured tournaments, kids clubs, and more!
